Meet Gretta - a new Custom Sasha Doll

(sale pending) Meet Gretta - just completed!  Gretta began as a 1970's Gregor doll in need of new hair and a makeover.  Her body mold dates to circa 1975, so she is an earlier and darker doll.

Her facial features have been repainted - since her outfit to me looks so 1970's in style, I wanted to do a combination of the 1970's eyestyle with the large eyes found on the earliest developmental no philtrum dolls without copying either.  She has large blue eyes now!

Her hair also, I wanted to be in a 1970's carefree style, so I have trimmed up and styled a synthetic mohair wig for her.  I love these wigs, as the fibers are very fine and yet strong and firmly rooted (unlike real mohair) and it can be washed and styled.  Her hair can be parted different ways as there is a "skin" part on the top instead of a stitched part.

Her wonderful dress that reminded me so much of the Holly Hobbie style fabric that we all loved in the 1970's is all handmade by Dreaming Under the Lilacs.  I could not find appropriate shoes that worked with her look, so I left this little hippie girl barefoot to usher in the warm days of summer.

Gretta is a one of a kind and can't ever be exactly duplicated.  She comes signed with a certificate.

Gretta is $315 and can be paid by Paypal.  International Shipping is $38; US shipping based on zip.  I can be contacted at wenarskys@embarqmail.com

Meet Tamora - a New Sasha Doll :)

(SALE PENDING) This is Tamora- who began as a 1980's Gregor doll.  She is in good condition - has been well cleaned and has one small shiny spot on her lip and another on her left temple from previous play!

She has greenish eyes, freckles and a light brown/auburn colored wig.  She wears a homemade dress by Debbies Dolls and a straw hat that I have added.   Her green dress is just perfect for Spring and reflects her eye colors nicely, just like Sasha purposed to do with her studio dolls!

But of course, she can be dressed in many different outfits and styles; she is very versatile!   Her tousled wig is a synthetic mohair, so it is very soft, natural looking and very style-able!  Her features have been sealed as well.

Tamora is now a one of a kind Sasha doll that can never be duplicated.  She is $325 and she is sure to make a fun addition to your Sasha collection!

(SALE PENDING) I just finished this fun little doll....and gave her a fun little name.  She is "Jasie";( just a cute name I found online!)

She began as a 1970 Sasha with falling hair and badly greened features exposed to ultraviolet light.
I decided to remake her as a much younger looking Sasha since she is the earlier, smaller mold.  Her blue eyes are rounder and "open" a bit wider to give her this look.
She has a scruffy, homespun kind of look in her comfortable cotton vintage style dress (handmade by 4Everart).  She has white socks, underpants and little black side strap shoes in a traditional Sasha style.
Her wig is a brand new human hair wig.  I had to work with it a bit to give it a somewhat natural childlike style.  Her features have been repainted and she has freckles.    She is in very good condition - I did restring her so that now she can hold a pose. She has one little kind of pock in the vinyl on her lower lip that seems to have been factory done; almost like a little bubble; fortunately it is not very noticeable!

Jasie's little friends (doll and bear) are just props and aren't included; but I'm sure her new home will have lots of toys for her to play with!
Jasie is $360 and comes signed with a certificate.  I may be contacted at wenarskys@embarqmail.com

(SALE PENDING) Meet Antonia Clare!  This lovely Sasha girl was a 1980's Trendon brunette with one eye lighter than the other.  She was an excellent candidate for a remake!

She has been completely repainted and is now a one of a kind doll.  Her lovely brunette hair is all her own - rooted and not falling!  I have restrung her so that she can hold a pose; she can even stand on her head!

Her eyes are a hazel green and her cheeks have a blush wash on them. I love how Sasha used blush on her earliest studio dolls and it adds a nice depth to the doll's face.
She comes dressed in the outfit shown.  Underneath her contemporary hoodie is a white t-shirt.  (I have used these hoodies before and never had any color fast issues but her new owner might want to get her a long sleeved shirt for underneath in order to reduce any risk of color transfer to the vinyl over a very long period of time.)   Black tights and boots complete her outfit.  (Again, I have never had any transfer problems using these black socks, and have been using them for years,  but a pair of white tights underneath might be a precaution for long term wear....)

Antonia is a lot of fun and this one of a kind girl is $295.  I can accept Paypal and international orders as well.  My email address is wenarskys@embarqmail.com
Spring Valley Studios Sasha dolls seeks to bring individuality and a new personality to previously loved Sasha dolls.   I have been repainting Sasha dolls since 2004 and each doll is a one of a kind, signed on the foot and with certificate of his/her origins.  They are never duplicated and each is an individual character :)  Dolls are sealed with a poly-sealer and are fine for gentle play (my own children each have their own custom Sasha dolls) but use of lots of soapy water  an results in color changes, and banging around can cause dings to the paint on the features.
As in Sasha's tradition, the doll is a unit; where the hair, clothing and features are unified.  Sasha always painted the features last on a doll and I have sought to adhere to that tradition.  But redressing and  even rewigging by their new owners is just fine also.  They're made to be loved! :)

Meet Catalina!

(SALE PENDING) Catalina...a baby Sasha for January!
It has been a very long time since I worked on a custom Sasha baby; and in fact, it's been too long since I worked on any custom Sasha creation.  I have had these baby parts here for over a year.. in a bin just waiting.  She began with a Sasha baby boy head and an early sexed baby girl's torso and matching arms and legs.  I couldn't just "parts" this doll out - she needed to be a new creation!

Catalina has been restrung, and all her parts thoroughly cleaned.  She does have a shiny appearance; after all, her parts came from two Sasha babies that were very, very well loved!  The head had features damage, and all the features were removed and repainted in a Sasha studio baby style.  Her mohair wig of natural fiber is also inspired by Sasha Morgenthaler's studio babies.

I didn't want to dress Catalina in a new looking outfit, rather I wanted her to look like an older studio baby, so she is dressed in a handmade antique sunsuit from the 1940's.  It has a little yellowish staining on the front and a seam under one arm that is a little open, but it all adds to her charm.  Like Sasha's early babies, her cheeks are very subtly and  gently blushed.

Catalina is $195 and will arrive with a certificate and signed on her foot.  International shipping available - Paypal accepted.  :)

Meet Esi!  Elsi is Spring Valley Studios newest one of a kind Sasha doll!  Esi is an African name meaning"born on Sunday" in Africa.  Since today is Sunday and I have completed her today, it seemed an appropriate name!

Esi was a doll I previously customized with blue eyes.  Looking at her on my shelf, I was unhappy with the way her blue eyes were lost in her dark skin at a distance.  So I have changed them, darkened all her features and worked with her wig a little bit - and when this gorgeous handmade dress by Dreaming Under the Lilacs arrived, I knew I had to do a total overhaul on her character and use some of Sasha's ethnic children as inspiration, using very dark brown as base in her iris color rather than a blue shade.

Esi has pierced ears; inspired by one of Sasha Morgenthaler's African studio babies.  Her earrings can be changed out of course, but she will come with the pair she is wearing.

Esi has a "synthetic mohair" wig - which is very soft, very curly and can be styled in many ways.  I have added several yellow beads to match her outfit!
Esi began as a 1980's Caleb and has been thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and restrung.  She has a slight storage odor but there is no "mold infection" since she has been cleaned inside and out with an anti-mold solution and washed thorougly numerous times.  (When she arrived she had no visible mold, just a slight residual "basement" smell, so I thought it best to do a thorough inside out cleaning and restringing.)

I hope you enjoy her photos, and a special "thank you" to Dreaming Under the Lilacs for providing this fabulous dress that unifies her entire look!
Esi is $335 and Paypal is available as well as International shipping.  Contact me here

Harmony...A New Custom Sasha Dolls

(SALE PENDING) Meet Harmony!

Harmony began as an early 1980's Sasha with cut hair and playwear and has been transformed into a one of a kind custom Sasha doll!  In her adorable playdress in patchwork fabric (handmade by Dreaming Under the Lilacs!) she represents a little girl from the 1970's.  Handmade sandals and a real 1970's Knickerbocker Holly Hobby miniature doll complete her look!   We're having an unprecedented "Indian Summer" here this time of year and with her colors, she seemed perfect to photograph against the autumn background.

Harmony has an auburn  human hair wig that has been treated and styled for her.  She has been thoroughly cleaned and restrung and her features repainted and sealed.  She has light blush on the outside of her cheeks and nose, a technique Sasha used in creating some of her earliest dolls.
Her eyes are a dark olive with green tones.

Holly was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected and has a slight odor; but as she was not moldy smelling when she arrived, I'm not sure what the smell is.  I'm allergic to mold and this is not triggering any reaction; so I'm not sure what it is.

Harmony is $355 and international shipping is availble.  She comes signed on her foot and with a certificate.  (And her little Holly Hobbie doll too!)   I may be contacted here   Enjoy her photos - she and I had a lot of fun
