Meet Taisie!  (SOLD)

  Taisie is a special doll created for the holiday season 2012!  She began as a 1970's girl with badly falling hair.  She has had some playwear, but she was well worthy of a remake and is now a whole new personality!

 Taisie's is named after the legendary Irish princess with bright blue eyes.  With her flyaway blonde hair, ethereal aurora and in her blue and silver snowflake outfit, hand sewn by Dreaming Under The Lilacs, she looks like a winter sprite!  But on her feet, she wears a wonderful pair of handmade ice skates, made especially for Sasha!  Sasha Morgenthaler created special dolls for the winter; including ice skaters, and Taisie follows that tradition!

 

Taisie wears a very high quality synthetic wig by Monique.  It has mohair like qualities, but it is very durable and soft.  It is glued so that it is adhered carefully all around, so it can be pulled back in a ponytail and still looks great!  It can be styled in many ways; the front part has a "skin" cap so that it can be parted different ways. 

 Taisie's eyes have been patterned after Sasha's studio doll style.  She has lightly blushed cheeks which accent her blues, along with her strawberry blonde hair color.   She has a very light sprinkling of freckles. 

She has some playwear, but no chews or strange odors.  She has been cleaned inside and out and restrung with all new elastic.  She has a stain on the back of one leg that lightened considerably when I washed it.  I have not tried to remove it yet with clearasil, but will be applying it over the next few days.  Fortunately, it is light and on the back of her thigh.

Kelly Wenarsky Custom Sasha Dolls: An Album

 I have been asked several times if I have an album of my previously made custom Sasha dolls.  I do have a facebook album of many of the dolls I have created; at this link:

About Spring Valley Studios Sashas:  The basic Sasha doll mold, as sculpted and created by Swiss artist Sasha Morgenthaler, lends itself beautifully to being changed and made into a one of a kind doll. Just look at the hundreds of different studio dolls Sasha created over the course of nearly four decades with just four basic headmolds! I have collected and dealt in Sasha dolls since the early 1990's and I have been repainting and customizing Sasha dolls professionally since 2004. The later factory production Sashas partially or entirely had their facial features stamped on by machine, all in a uniform way. This was useful for mass production and for children, but not what Sasha Morgenthaler had originally intended. These machine printed dolls lend themselves perfectly to being recreated as one a kind dolls as Sasha similar to what Morgenthaler herself created. My dolls are never copies of Sasha's art (could anyone ever even hope to copy this remarkable woman's work?) But rather, like other repaint artists, I am inspired by her basic doll mold, styles and traditions and I strive to adhere to those traditions. I'm thrilled to see how this remarkably simple doll mold lends itself to so many different interpretations, each with it's own uniqueness. I hope you enjoy seeing my dolls! (SALE PENDING) Meet Halliana!  Halliana began as a mid 1970's Gregor in need of a remake.  She has been restrung, repainted and rewigged and is now a one of a kind Sasha girl!

I wanted to experiment more with Sasha's technique of using a pink was behind the eye features; something she did very frequently on her studio dolls; while at the same time, creating a rounder iris and higher center of the eye lid.  I really do like the way Halliana came out with her wide, innocent features.  I hope you love her too!

 She will come fully dressed in this beautiful handmade outfit by Dreaming Under The Lilacs.  My 10 year old wanted to be involved, and she knitted her this little shawl and sewed on this button that she found. (I'm glad my daughter can knit - because I cannot! :)  Since she's only ten, it's not perfect, but looks as if Halliana may have made it herself, to adapt her short sleeved dress to cooler, Autumn weather!

 On her feet are velvet shoes.  Her wig has been cut and styled just for her and is a high quality acrylic.  It is cut in a way and has been adhered to her head so that it can be pulled back, braided, put in ponytails, etc. and it still looks lovely.

 Little prop friends not included.....but she loves little dolls and toys!
